    Language Toolkits

Introducing Language Toolkits: a project initiated and led by the CFMS National Officer of Global Health Education 2019/2020, Farnaz Javadian.

Each toolkit presents translations of standard medical history-taking questions in languages used commonly during encounters with our diverse patient populations here in Canada, or languages students may encounter on international exchange, internships, or other projects abroad. These toolkits can also serve as English translation guides for international students coming to Canada. They are suitable for students who already have some familiarity with the language, but would like a guide for how to phrase each medical history-taking question and for learning some of the medical vocabulary in that language. For languages that use a different alphabet, a transliteration/pronunciation guide is included as well.

We look forward to having students use the toolkits, and to continue to incorporate language training in global health curricula. We will also be continuing to add more languages in the near future. If you have any questions about this project or if you are fluent in a language not yet added and would like to help with the translation, please contact the CFMS National Officer of Global Health Education, at noghe@cfms.org.
