In partnership with MD Financial Management, the CFMS hosts an annual leadership award.

The International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) connects and engages with a network of 1.3 million medical students from 124 national members organizations in 116 countries around the globe.

The Canadian Federation of Medical Students (CFMS) announces that Dr. Glenn Regehr will hold the position of inaugural CFMS National Research Chair in Undergraduate Medical Education. Dr. Regehr is Professor at the University of British Columbia, Senior Scientist at the Centre for Health Education Scholarship (CHES), and Associate Director, Research at CHES. Dr. Regehr is the author of over 190 peer reviewed medical education publications and his research teams have received over $4 million in competitive research funding grants. As the representative voice of Canadian medical students, the Canadian Federation of Medical Students (CFMS) represents you and your colleagues to many national medical organizations including the Canadian Medical Association, the College of Family Physicians, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and others.

Each fall and winter, the CFMS selects a new group of talented individuals to help represent medical students to these organizations and offers a chance to general CFMS members to be involved in shaping the future of medicine in Canada. Volunteering for these positions allows students to learn more about medical education, health promotion and more, all while acting as the voice of Canadian medical students.

The 70th World Health Assembly will take place in Geneva between May 22nd and May 31st, 2017. This meeting is one of the largest health policy setting events, it brings together health ministers and health representatives from the 194 World Health Organization (WHO) member states.

Medical societies, meeting delegates and member medical students are invited to put forward resolutions for discussion and debate at the CFMS Annual General Meeting during the Members Resolutions Session. Resolutions should reflect an understanding of ongoing and past work, and resolutions must pertain to new work of the Federation. Members are encouraged to review resolutions submitted at the previous meeting, available on the CFMS website under the AGM 2016 meeting documents section.
