Call for Applicants – CFMS Travel Awards

Medical societies, meeting delegates and member medical students are invited to put forward resolutions for discussion and debate at the CFMS Annual General Meeting during the Members Resolutions Session. Resolutions should reflect an understanding of ongoing and past work, and resolutions must pertain to new work of the Federation. Members are encouraged to review resolutions submitted at previous meetings.

The CFMS National Exchange Officers (NEOs) are the students responsible for facilitating and managing exchange opportunities offered to Canadian medical student through the International Federation of Medical Student Exchange program.  The NEOs are responsible for coordinating the work of the standing committees at the local/university and national level, as well as for representing their countries at IFMSA meetings. They are also responsible for relaying information from the IFMSA to the CFMS.

WINNIPEG, MAY 2, 2017 – The Canadian Federation of Medical Students (CFMS) is deeply alarmed at the large number of unmatched Canadian Medical Graduates (CMGs) in the 2017 CaRMS R-1 Match, the results of which were released at the CaRMS Forum on April 30th, 2017. The CFMS has closely monitored the multi-year exponential trend of unmatched Canadian Medical Graduates (CMGs), increase from 11 (0.5%) in 2009 to 68 (2.4%) in 2017.

Nominations are now open for the position of Vice-President of Communications of the Canadian Federation of Medical Students (CFMS).  The role of VP Communications is currently vacant on the CFMS Executive and the elected individual will hold the position of VP Communications for a term lasting 5 months with re-election at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in September 2017.
