About the CFMS
The CFMS is an organization representing over 8,000 medical students from 15 Canadian medical student societies from coast to coast. We represent medical students to the public, to the federal government, and to national and international medical organizations.In light of recent nationwide demonstrations hosted by anti-transgender and far-right groups, the Canadian Federation of Medical Students (CFMS) wishes to express our unequivocal support for the 2SLGBTQI+ community. We firmly believe the animosity currently directed against members of this community is deeply harmful. We condemn any form of hate, discrimination, and harassment towards members of the 2SLGBTQI+ community.
Everyone deserves safe, affirming, and culturally competent care irrespective of sexual orientation, identity, or expression. We are committed to the principles of inclusivity, equity, and respect for all individuals and oppose any attack on 2SLGBTQI+ rights.
We understand that the news of these demonstrations can be distressing, particularly for members of the 2SLGBTQI+ community and their allies. In light of this, we wish to provide additional resources to support those affected:
