About the CFMS
The CFMS is an organization representing over 8,000 medical students from 15 Canadian medical student societies from coast to coast. We represent medical students to the public, to the federal government, and to national and international medical organizations.-Le français suit-
The purpose of this task force is to research, gather, and formulate a CFMS briefing document and written statement to the Standing Committee on Health (HESA) as they undergo their year-long study as outlined by the passing of Motion M-132 Federally Funded Health Research (passed unanimously on Nov 8, 2017). The outputs of this task force, will inform HESA moving forward on this study on federally funded health research outcomes. There also exists the opportunity for the CFMS to present ideas and thoughts as a witness to HESA for their study over the next year.
Details of Motion M-132: That the Standing Committee on Health be instructed to undertake a study on ways of increasing benefits to the public resulting from federally funded health research, with the goals of lowering drugs costs and increasing access to medicines, both in Canada and globally; and that the Committee report its findings and recommendations to the House no later than one year from the time this motion is adopted.

Appel de candidatures : Groupe de travail sur la recherche en santé

Ce groupe de travail aura pour but la recherche ainsi que la formulation, au nom de la FEMC, d’un document d’information et d’une déclaration adressés au Comité permanent de la santé (HESA) en lien avec leur étude d’un an, tel que résolu par la motion M-132 Recherche en santé subventionnée par le fédéral (adoptée à l’unanimité le 8 novembre 2017). Les documents fournis par ce groupe de travail renseigneront le Comité alors qu’il se lance dans son étude des résultats de la recherche subventionnée par le fédéral. La FEMC aura aussi l’opportunité de présenter des idées et des réflexions au Comité, en tant que témoin, pendant leur étude au cours de la prochaine année.
Extrait de la motion M-132 : Que le Comité permanent de la santé soit chargé de faire une étude sur les moyens de faire profiter davantage le public de la recherche en santé subventionnée par le fédéral, avec pour objectifs la réduction du coût des médicaments et l’amélioration de l’accès aux médicaments, au Canada comme ailleurs ; et que le Comité fasse rapport de ses conclusions et de ses recommandations à la Chambre dans l’année suivant l’adoption de la présente motion.
