CFMS Sponsorship Opportunities
What is CFMS?
The Canadian Federation of Medical Students (CFMS) is the national medical student organization of Canada. We represent over 8000 future physicians at 16 medical schools from coast to coast. As the voice of the physicians of tomorrow, the CFMS is an important player in national healthcare politics and a widely recognized and well-established organization. We stand on three pillars:
- Representation: We represent Canadian medical students at any national or international body that affects medical education or practice in Canada. CFMS members sit on the boards of such organizations as the Canadian Medical Association, the Canadian Association of Interns and Residents and the Medical Council of Canada.
- Communication: We work to facilitate and improve communication amongst our member schools as well as communicating with external organizations and the Canadian public.
- Services: We strive to provide our members with needed and affordable services during different stages of their medical training. These include access to travel discounts, online classifieds and the ability to participate in international electives through our association with the International Federation of Medical Student Associations.
Why is CFMS Seeking Sponsorship Opportunities?
Increased Revenues: The CFMS is a not-for-profit, student run organization. Most of our revenues are derived from student membership fees. We have grown tremendously in recent years and now represent students at over 30 national and international organizations. Managing this growth is difficult given our limited resources. Our goal is to minimize the financial burden placed on our members. For this reason we have decided to seek external sponsorship.
Improved Membership Services: Our goal is to improve not only the financial situation of our organization, but to improve direct services to members with every sponsorship agreement. We have approached you because we believe that your organization offers a service that medical students would consider valuable.
What can CFMS offer Sponsors?
CFMS represents over 8,000 medical students across Canada. Exposure to our membership at this early stage of medical training would be enormously beneficial to any corporation seeking to establish credibility among physicians. There are a number of ways in which we can offer your company exposure, including via email, through our new website and through printed materials to be distributed to students.
How can you help?
Every year we send out a welcome package to all the 2000 first year medical students at our member schools. This package serves to introduce our organization to new students and to outline the services we offer. In addition, the website is designed in such a way that will ensure necessary and continued traffic from all our members. The CFMS would like to invite you to become an official sponsor of our organization. In exchange you will be featured in our welcome package this coming year and acknowledged on our new website. Perhaps this portal could offer a unique partnership for both our organizations as we work with you to improve the services we offer to our members. Lastly, we would invite you to include a flyer in each student's package. This would allow you exposure to the physicians of tomorrow as they are being introduced to their national representative body - a unique opportunity.
