Registration for the CFMS Biannual General Meeting 2009 is now open! The BAGM will be held in Edmonton, AB from May 1-2, 2009. Read the full news item to register and for meeting details.
Meeting Details:
1. The deadline to register for the CFMS BAGM is April 1st, 2009. Please register as early as possible.
2. The CFMS BAGM will be held in Edmonton, AB from Friday May 1st to Saturday May 2nd, 2009. The meeting will take place over both full days. Most attendees will prefer to arrive in Edmonton the night prior in order to be present for opening remarks on Friday morning. Many attendees will also choose to stay for CaRMS Forum which takes place Sunday morning, then depart later in the day on Sunday. All attendees are responsible for funding and scheduling their own travel. Please book flights early in order to guarantee a seat.
3. The meeting will take place at the Westin Edmonton and adjoining Shaw Conference Centre. Address, contact information, and directions are available at the hotel website.
4. All attendees are responsible for scheduling and funding their own hotel accomodations, and this is often done through local Medical Student Societies. Many attendees will prefer to stay on-location at the Westin Edmonton to save time and transportation costs, but there is no requirement to do so. If staying at the Westin, make sure to book your required number of rooms as early as possible as these will go fast.
5. The CFMS BAGM takes place in conjunction with the annual Canadian Conference on Medical Education (CCME), hosted by the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC). The CCME runs from May 2nd-6th also at the Westin Edmonton, bringing together medical educators and members of national medical organizations from across the country. To see a preliminary schedule for the full event and to register for the CCME, visit the AFMC Website. The CFMS recommends that all students attending BAGM also register for the CCME.
6. There is no registration fee for BAGM and no registration fee for students for the CCME. Observers who are not medical students will be charged a registration fee of $100 to cover administrative costs.
7. Dinner will be arranged by the CFMS for Friday evening at a cost of $25 per participant. Please have your school's delegation collect the money and have it ready at the BAGM registration table on Friday morning. Dinner on the Saturday of BAGM traditionally takes place independently or with faculty members. Social events TBD will be arranged for Friday and Saturday evening in Edmonton.
8. For observers and general student members (not a MedSoc Pres, CFMS Rep or GHL), there is a meal charge of $60 including Friday dinner or $35 not including Friday dinner. Please remit payment to Rosemary Conliffe at the time of in-person registration on May 1st.
9. A preliminary agenda and further details will be made available here in the coming weeks.
10. If your MedSoc delegation knows it will be sending an attendee but you will not know the name of the person who will be filling this position by April 1st, please create a placeholder by registering for this person anyway. Enter "To Be Determined" into the name field, and be sure to contact Rosemary Conliffe as soon as you do know the name.
11. For questions please contact Rosemary Conliffe, CFMS General Manager.
