National Officers of Partnership (NOP):

Formerly part of the profile of the National Officer of Public Health, this new position was created in March 2008 to help increase communication between CFMS-GHP members, the CFMS and external organizations, and to help create new global health opportunities for medical students within existing organizations, projects, and programs. The position plans to accomplish this through the following initiatives:
1) Opening to the medical world the great work being done by the CFMS-GHP through negotiation with the CMAJ to publish a series of articles on global health submitted by members of the CFMS-GHP.
2) Promoting medical student participation in global health activities locally, nationally, and internationally by partnering with well-established NGOs, conferences, and faculty programs. For example, over the last year, the CFMS-GHP was involved with GHEC, AFMC, SUNSIH, CSIH, CCIH and McGill’s Global Health Program.
3) Increasing partnerships with global health organizations and NGOs. This role supports the Global Health Mentorship Project and is seeking out new partnerships with CCIH, CMAJ, and others.

National Officers of Global Health Education (NOGHE):

Formerly part of the profile of the National Officer of Public Health, this new NOGHE position was created in March 2008 to serve the ongoing needs for standardized, comprehensive global health education in all Canadian medical schools.
Currently, the NOGHE works with external groups such as the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC) Global Health Resource Group and the Global Health Education Consortium (GHEC) to develop global health education guidelines and implementation protocols that can be disseminated to medical schools. The NOGHE is also involved in organizing student-based advocacy around global health education. This position particularly focuses on the following objectives:
1. Ensuring that the AFMC-CFMS Global Health Resource documents on core competencies in global health education and pre-departure guidelines are in the process of implementation at every medical school. This is accomplished through collaboration with the chairs of the CFMS-GHP working groups on global health curriculum and pre-departure training.
2. Participating in drafting new competency and implementation documents, through collaboration with the AFMC-GHEC US-Canadian Joint Initiative on Global Health Education Standards.
3. Bringing a student voice to the creation of global health education tools and resources, through active participation on the Global Health Education Consortium (GHEC) Board of Directors and Student Advisory Committee.
4. Working closely with the National Officer of Partnership and the Global Health Mentorship Project to open new avenues of informal global health education for all medical students in Canada.
National Officers on Reproductive and Sexual Health (NORSH):

The role of the NORSH is to serve and educate Canadian medical students about sexual and reproductive health by creating opportunities in these fields and liaising with relevant organizations. It seeks to promote the theme of sexual and reproductive health within the CFMS-GHP by working closely with the VP Global Health, other National Officers and small working groups. This position involves the following:
1. Organizing reproductive health workshops at medical student conferences, such as Ontario Medical School Weekend (OMSW) and Dal-Mun/Mun-Dal Weekend.
2. Supporting Global Health Liaisons (GHLs) at Canadian medical schools in implementing a Worlds AIDS Day program by providing them with resources and information. This involves liaising with representatives from HIV/AIDS organizations such as Give A Day campaign, World AIDS Campaign, UNAIDS, MTV Staying Alive Campaign to gather relevant resources and materials. Depending on interest from GHLs, the NORSH can also coordinate a unified national World AIDS Day campaign.
3. Supporting Global Health Liaisons (GHLs) at Canadian medical schools in implementing an International Women's Day campaign by providing them with resources and information. This involves liaising with representatives from relevant organizations such as the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (SOGC) to gather relevant resources and materials. The NORSH may also coordinate a unified International Women's Day campaign, again depending on GHL interest.
National Officer of Human Rights and Peace (NORP):

The role of the NORP is to create opportunities for Canadian medical students to learn more about issues related to human rights and peace, and to act as advocates in this regard. This position involves the following:
1. Working with the GHP’s Advocacy Working Group and Global Health Advocates (GHAs) from each school to develop local and national advocacy initiatives based on a different theme each year. The theme for 2008/09 is aboriginal health.
2. Supporting Global Health Liaisons (GHLs) in organizing campaigns related to human rights and peace.
